Assistant Farm Manager
We are seeking an assistant farm manager to participate in all aspects of our operations. Primary responsibilities will cover care, feeding and management of animals (hogs, sheep, chickens, cattle). Secondary responsibilities will cover management of fruit (primarily berries). The assistant farm manager will participate in basic butchering of chickens, sheep and hogs. He or she will also assist with packaging and logistics for our retail and wholesale customers. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated person to develop expertise in management of a diversified, regenerative farm. We intend this position to start as a part-time hourly wage position, and to evolve into a full-time, year-round position with a salary and bonus. Health insurance will be available. Candidates should have prior farm experience, although significant on-the-job learning is expected.
Partnership Opportunities
Fresh Vegetables and Pickles: We seek partners to develop a fresh vegetable and pickle business on our farm. We envision this as a business supplying 1) wholesale customers with a wide variety of bottled pickles, and 2) retail customers with a winter CSA of root vegetables. We do not wish in compete in the summer and fall markets for fresh cut raw vegetables. We would like to partner with one or two motivated, entrepreneurial people to build this business on our farm. We will provide land, equipment, start-up capital, customer relationships and roughly 25% of the labor. We seek partners who will provide management and 75% of the labor. Prior experience on a market garden farm is required.
Fresh Cut Flowers: We seek partners to develop a fresh cut flower business on our farm. We envision this as a business supplying local retail customers and event planners with fresh cut, seasonal flowers. We would like to partner with one or two motivated, entrepreneurial people to build this business on our farm. We will provide land, equipment, start-up capital, customer relationships and roughly 25% of the labor. We seek partners who will provide management and 75% of the labor. This is a part-time, seasonal business opportunity. Experience with, and passion for, flowers is essential.
